This will let you try the Crystal Challenge in a Battle arena, where you must collect all 20 Crystals in the arena before time runs out to be awarded a Purple CTR Token.

The Trophy Race is no longer available, but you can do the CTR Challenge and ignore the letters, or play Race in the Offline Arcade mode.ДЄ fifth Warp Pad will also open up in the Hub with purple arrows on it.

In the CTR Challenge, you'll have to collect the letters C, T and R hidden about the track and still come in first place to get a CTR Token (the colour of which is indicated by the colour of the arrows on the track's Warp Pad). In Relic Race, you'll need to beat a track's time by smashing yellow Time Crates that freeze the clock, with fast times being awarded a Relic of a certain colour. Winning this will activate all the Warp Pads in the local hub, and you'll get a Boss Key which can be used to open the large double doors to progress to a new Hub area.ДЄfter beating a Hub's boss, the race tracks will have two new Side Challenges: the Relic Race and the CTR Challenge. Once you collect a Trophy from all four tracks in a hub world, you'll be challenged by the local boss for their Boss Challenge. This allows you to save to a different slot, or load up a different Adventure Mode save without having to quit to the main menu first.ДЄfter you win a track's Trophy Race for the first time, the Warp Pad will deactivate. Each hub also has a giant green monitor, which you can drive up to and access the Load/Save screen. The big double doors are locked, and can only be opened with Boss Keys won from Boss Challenges, with the number you need matching the number of padlocks on the door. There are two additional points of interest in most hubs. When you first enter a hub area, you'll only have one or two Warp Pads active for you to use, but others can be activated by collecting more Trophies (the number you need will be displayed by the Warp Pad). When you first arrive in a Hub, the only thing you can do is enter Trophy Races on a couple of tracks via their Warp Pads. To achieve 100%, you must also complete all the other events to collect CTR Tokens, Relics and Gems. Once you get four Keys, you can challenge Nitros Oxide for the fate of the planet. The goal of Adventure Mode is to earn four Trophies in each of the main Hubs to enter the four Boss Garages and gain their Keys. If you want to play with a different difficulty, you must start a new save. It's worth noting that you cannot change the difficulty or change the Classic/Nitro Fueled modes for a specific save. You can also select from Easy, Medium and Hard difficulties for either mode. Classic mode meanwhile locks you to the original PS1 game characters with their stock appearance.

Nitro Fueled lets you use any item, character and kart that you've unlocked at any time, allowing full use of kart customization and even characters like Crunch and Zam who weren't in the original game. When first making an Adventure save, you can choose between Nitro Fueled and Classic options.
